Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS is slowly gaining popularity in the competitive smartphone market which is dominated by iOS and Android. The app gap between Windows Phone and other major operating systems is huge, and as a result, the Redmond giant would love for developers to submit more apps.
If you’re a developer, Microsoft has some good news for you. Microsoft has announced on their official blog that app certification process has been reduced, and an app could be certified in one hour.
Over the past few weeks we have been rolling out the new streamlined workflow as we prepare for the next stage of growth and scale. While still in the early in the roll out, we’ve seen turn-around time of less than one day and in some cases just one hour.
With these changes, you’ll also notice an improved approach to delivering certification results. In place of the standard PDF attachment, developers will now receive an email notification indicating testing is complete with App Review results available on their Dev Center Dashboard – keeping all important app information in one easy to access location. We’ve also updated the format to make the results easier to read and included your app icon for instant identification, to help those of you who have multiple apps.
Microsoft stated they have streamlined the certification process, although it’s still in early stages and apps have been certified in less than a day, with a few getting clearance in one hour. Now, developers who will submit their apps will get an email notification once the app testing is complete with the results available in their dev center dashboard.
The blog post mentions it will take a few weeks for the process to roll out completely so if you’re a developer, you have to bear with them as it’s a decent change from Microsoft.
