T-Mobile and Sprint are expected to reach out a $32 billion deal, which will merge two major US carriers, and could bring fierce competition for AT&T and Verizon.
According to a new report from Bloomberg, the well-spoken John Legere of T-Mobile will remain at the helm once the merger goes through.
The negotiations are ongoing, and once the merger is complete, he could possibly take the lead role and replace Dan Hesse, who has been with Sprint since 2007. Legere is popular for his un-carrier plans, and the company is even paying the early termination fees when you switch to T-Mobile. Under his regime, T-Mobile became the fastest-growing U.S. Wireless company.
“John Legere, the chief executive officer of T-Mobile who’s known for wearing company-branded shirts and taunting his competitors on Twitter, is likely to run the combined company, according to two people familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified because the plans are private. He’s being favored over Dan Hesse, the 60-year-old CEO of Sprint, who took over a broken company in 2007 and did enough fixing, even while operating at a loss, to attract a new owner last year,” says Bloomberg in a report.
We’ll update you if it happens. What do you think about John Legere as the CEO of the big company?
