Apple iPhone 5C pre-orders started earlier this week via Apple’s website. If you are following the entire iPhone introduction saga, you should know that the flagship iPhone 5S is not available for pre-orders. People who want to get their hands on the next generation iPhone have to pick one up from the store on September 20th. However, that’s not the case for the people in China and Hong Kong. People in these countries can reserve iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C from Apple’s website.
Starting September 17, customers can reserve their iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C by visiting China Apple website or Hong Kong Apple website. The pickup of the reserved devices will begin on September 20th, which is the launch date for iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C for many countries. The reservation system cannot be found on any other country’s website, so it’s only available in the mentioned countries.
Apple took a similar approach in China last year to prevent large crowd from gathering outside the Apple Store, and to prevent any unexpected situation. The reservation system should help counter these issues as people who want to get the new iPhone can simply reserve their device and pick it up on launch date without any hassle.
Starting 20th of September, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will go on sale in US, Canada, UK and several other countries. In US, you can get an unlocked 16GB iPhone 5C for $549 while its available for $99 on-contract. On the other hand, the refreshed 16GB iPhone 5S is available for $649, and available for $199 with a two-year contract.
