As expected Intel has this month announced the arrival of their new and highly anticipated Intel NUC mini PC which has slightly grown in size to provide the much needed extra drive space for owners to install additional storage.
As soon as you take the lid casing off the new Intel NUC mini PC you are presented with the drive bay, which provides enough space for a 2.5-inch drive and the addition of extra storage space, which was one of the concerns addressed in the older and smaller Intel NUC systems.
The system board specifications are identical to the Intel Haswell NUC mini PCs that are already available and there are 2 x DDR3 RAM slots, 1 x half-height slot for a mini PCI Express Wi-Fi card, together with 1 x full-height slot for an mSATA solid-state drive (SSD).
The port layout on the new Intel NUC is also identical to previous NUC models and Intel will be offering both Core i3 and Core i5 Haswell versions of the NUC system with the expanded drive case design.
