During IFA 2014 this week Intel has unveiled a new snake skin covered smart bracelet it has created with Opening Ceremony called the Intel MICA or “My Intelligent Communication Accessory”, which will be available in two styles.
The Intel MICA smart bracelet will provide users with alerts and notifications for SMS messages, calendar reminders, meeting alerts and other notifications sent directly to the wearable display.
Intel has helped engineered the technology used within the bracelet in collaboration with Opening Ceremony who provided the concepts for the design. Intel has also equipped the device with two-way wireless data communication via 3G that will be available without the need to pair with a smartphone.
One smart bracelet has been finished with a black snakeskin design, pearls and lapis stones from China, while the other is finished with white snakeskin, a iger’s eye from South Africa and obsidian from Russia.
The Intel MICA smart bracelets will be officially unveiled at Opening Ceremony’s spring/summer 2015 fashion show on Sunday, during Fashion Week in New York. The new smart bracelets will be available later this year from Barneys New York and Opening Ceremony stores and is expected to be priced under $1000.
