The Google Nexus 5 will be the first device to launch with Android 4.4 Kit Kat, we have heard a number of rumors about Google’s new smartphone and also the latest version of their mobile OS over the last few weeks.
We are expecting the Google Nexus 5 to be made official some time over the next week, and an the device may be announced next Monday the 28th of October.
From what we have heard so far, the Google Nexus 5 will go on sale before the end of October, the handset is rumored to go on sale on either the 30th or 31st of October.
All of the above dates are just rumors and speculation at the moment, although Google and Nestle, who have been teasing Android 4.4 Kit Kat over the last week or So.
We know that the launch of the Nexus 5 is not that far away, as the device actually appeared on the Google Play Store briefly, and that revealed that the 16GB model of the handset will retail for $349.
We previously heard some rumored specifications on the Google Nexus 5, the handset is said to feature a 5 inch full high defintion display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The Nexus 5 will apparently be powered by Qualcomm’s high end mobile processor, the Snapdragon 800, which is a quad core processor and it is expected to come with a clock speed of 2.2GHz or 2.3GHz.
Other rumored specifications on the Nexus 5 include 2GB of RAM and a choice of either 16GB or 32GB of built in storage, the device will come with front and rear facing cameras.
On the front of the Nexus 5 there will be a 1.3 megapixel camera for video calls, on the back of the handset there will be an 8 megapixel camera, the rear camera is rumored to come with some advanced features like optical image stabilization.
We have already seen a number of leaked screenshots of Android 4.4 Kit Kat, it is also expected to launch around the same time as the Nexus 5, when other manufacturers will release Kit Kat as an update to existing devices remains to be seen.
