It has been reported this week that Google is currently testing methods of presenting presentations directly from your Google Drive cloud storage facility, directly onto the screen of your HDTV, without the need of casting an entire screen or tab.
The new feature was spotted by Google Drive user Daniel Lohse, who noticed the new option contained within the “Present” tab inside one of his presentation documents.
As you can see in this screen capture below, it shows the drop-down revealing the feature to show the presentation via Chromecast and not via a tab as previously required.
It’s still not 100 percent clear whether the new functionality has been enabled by Google for some users as the new Chromecast feature doesn’t currently appear in the latest beta build of the Chrome operating system.
But the addition of the new Chromecast functionality within the presentation documents might suggest that Google is preparing to roll out the functionality to other file formats such as Google Docs in the near future before a full launch.
As soon as any more information regards the new Chromecast functionality being integrated with Google Drive is released either by Google or leaked we will of course keep you updated.
