Today Google has announced a new update for their Gmail service that will make a majority of Gmail users smile with joy, and has been a top request by users for some time.
The new update being released by Google for their Gmail brings with it a new feature that expands the search facility within Gmail to now allow users to search through mail attachments as well as regular mail.

The new attachments search feature works within PDF files, Microsoft .doc and .ppt files, as well as older attachments that might not even be indexed as yet, says the Google Operating System website. To use the new search facility, simply type in the following commands into the search box:
“To find messages that have attachments, search for has:attachment and add some keywords to your query. To restrict your search to PDF files, search for has:attachment filename:pdf.”
This means that if you are looking for a presentation file, you can use the command has:attachment filename:ppt to narrow down your search results to only PowerPoint files. Similarly, for Word documents, you can use has:attachment filename:doc. This level of specificity in search commands makes it easier to find exactly what you are looking for without having to sift through irrelevant emails.
