The 5th season of the fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones was confirmed by HBO back in April 2014, together with a 6th season. Season 5 is scheduled to premiere in 2015 and will adapt material from A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, the fourth and fifth novels in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series.
“The writing staff for the fifth season includes executive producers and showrunners David Benioff, D. B. Weiss, and Bryan Cogman, as well as Dave Hill, who was promoted to staff writer this season after previously being an assistant to Benioff and Weiss.
Author George R. R. Martin, who has written one episode per season, will not write an episode for the fifth season, as he plans to finish writing the sixth novel, The Winds of Winter. The directing staff for the fifth season is Michael Slovis (episodes 1 and 2), Mark Mylod (episodes 3 and 4), Jeremy Podeswa (episodes 5 and 6), Miguel Sapochnik (episodes 7 and 8), and David Nutter (episodes 9 and 10). Nutter is the only returning director, as the rest are first-time Game of Thrones directors.”
