The development team at Sweetzpot have created a new breathing monitor aptly named FLOW, which has this week launched via Kickstarter to raise the $30,000 required to take the breath monitor into production. FLOW monitors your breathing during activity and provides feedback on heart rate, ventilation, “autodetect thresholds” and more. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about FLOW which is being marketed as the very first sensor capable of measuring your breath.
FLOW provides users with metrics that until now have only been reserved for professional athletes, says the development team at Sweetzpot “as athletes and techies, we want to give you the best possible chance of reaching your goals regardless of your current level or experience.”
The FLOW sensor has been designed to capture data as soon as you start your session, accurately measuring the forces due to the expansion and contractor and of your inspiratory muscles. This allows FLOW to monitor and collect high quality data about your breath and then use physical models of breathing to extract the “true breathing signal from force measurements”. FLOW Come supplied with its own companion application that is supported by both Android and iOS devices as well as Garmin Connect and Strava fitness monitoring systems.
