Telltale Games has made quite a name for itself recently as a premier gaming developer, which is why Gearbox has teamed up with them to make Tales From The Borderlands. It’s a Telltale side-story within the Borderlands universe that’s going to be told from the perspective of two people: Rhys and Fiona.
During the panel at SXSW, which is where the first details of the game are coming from, Telltale’s President Kevin Bruner spilled that, “You never really play what actually happened, you’re playing this Big Fish version of what happened.” Rhys works for Hyperion, the evil megacorporation from the original games, and Fiona is an ex-con artist. They tell the game’s story from a future perspective, which means the facts will likely end up skewed quite a bit.
Like Telltale’s other games, Tales From The Borderlands is set to be more story driven then action driven. There are sure to be a few shooter aspects thrown in, but don’t expect the full Borderlands treatment if you decide to pick this game up when it launches. Although I do think it’s safe to assume it’ll be a good game regardless.
What do you think of the Telltale/Gearbox team-up?
