Rockmelt is a new type of browser that integrates with Facebook and allows you to keep up to date with your social network via a browser style interface. Rockmelt still currently under development but released a private beta last november and has now released a public beta version which you can now download and put through its paces.
It includes a number of great features to help you keep on top of your social network and allows you to quickly login to your Facebook account as soon as the browser starts.Watch the video after the break to see a quick advert about its features.
Rockmelt users can communicate without having to open a new tabs or window and you can access Facebook’s website from directly within the browser. The Chat Bar displays the user’s own status which can be updated, and display picture, and the contacts in a list with their own statuses and display pictures.
Rockmelt has been developed by Tim Howes and Eric Vishria and backed by Netscape founder Marc Andreessen and is based on Google’s open-source project Chromium.
