As well as unveiling the awesome Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition bundle that is available to pre-order now for $120, Bethesda also unveiled a 5-minute gameplay trailer for the latest Doom game.
Gameplay and Features
Check out the new Doom gameplay trailer unveiled during the E3 games event that is currently, allowing you to see the classic Doom double-barrelled shotgun, chainsaw, and a rocket launcher in action against Pinkies, Mancubus, and more. The trailer showcases the intense and visceral combat that the Doom series is known for, with fast-paced action and brutal takedowns. The graphics are stunning, and the gameplay looks smooth and responsive, promising an exhilarating experience for fans of the series.
Id Software exec producer Marty Stratton explained on stage that the first part shown was from the second level and the game will also have a Hell level that is roughly halfway through the game. This Hell level is expected to be one of the most challenging and visually striking parts of the game, featuring demonic landscapes and formidable enemies. The development team also unveiled a new tool that will enable players to make and instantly share their own custom maps and game modes in the form of Doom Level Builder. This tool is a significant addition, as it allows for endless replayability and creativity within the Doom community. Players can design their own levels, set their own rules, and share their creations with others, fostering a vibrant and active player base.
Release and Technical Details
The new Doom game is currently under development and is expected to launch sometime in the second quarter of 2016 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. This multi-platform release ensures that a wide audience will be able to enjoy the game, regardless of their preferred gaming system. It’s also been noted that Id Software wants to run the game at 1080p @ 60fps, which is a testament to their commitment to delivering a high-quality gaming experience. Achieving this level of performance on all platforms is no small feat and speaks to the technical prowess of the development team.
Players will be able to carry all the weapons they find, which is a departure from many modern shooters that limit the number of weapons a player can carry. This feature allows for more strategic flexibility and a more authentic Doom experience, where players can switch between a variety of weapons to tackle different enemies and situations. The arsenal includes iconic weapons like the BFG 9000, plasma rifle, and the aforementioned double-barrelled shotgun, each with its own unique feel and tactical advantages.
In addition to the single-player campaign, Doom will feature a robust multiplayer mode. This mode promises to bring the same fast-paced, brutal combat to competitive play, with various game modes and maps designed to keep players engaged. The multiplayer experience is expected to include both classic modes like Deathmatch and new, innovative modes that take advantage of the game’s unique mechanics and setting.
