What would you say if I told you that in a decade or so you could order anything online and have it shipped straight to your door in mere hours? Sounds like some farfetched tale that will take quite a bit of new age technology to complete right? Well Amazon, UPS, Google and many others are already working on it.
Their solution to the age old problem of delivery downtime – the time in which it takes for your online order to arrive at your doorstep – is automated assistance. Right now the talk is mostly centered around using drones to airdrop packages straight to your door, but companies like Google are already dreaming about using robots and automated vehicles to get the job done. You do know Google has been working on a driverless car right?
Their all working on this because it’d be a cash cow. eCommerce is currently a trillion dollar industry that relies heavily on the delivery of packages. Companies are already constantly looking for ways to deliver faster with humans; imagine if they could do so without!
The downside is that if this plan does come to fruition, a lot of people would end of out of a job. What do you think about a drone delivering to your door?
