BlackBerry Mobile will be making their new BlackBerry Key 2 smartphone official tomorrow and now it looks like we have full specifications on the handset.
Evan Blass has posted a spec sheet on Twitter, revealing that the device will come with a 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 1620 x 1080 pixels. This resolution ensures a crisp and clear display, making it ideal for both professional and personal use.
Hardware and Performance
The handset will feature a full QWERTY keyboard, a signature element of BlackBerry devices, which appeals to users who prefer physical keyboards over virtual ones. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, a mid-range chipset known for its balance of performance and efficiency. This processor should handle everyday tasks with ease and provide a smooth user experience.
The BlackBerry Key 2 will come with 6GB of RAM, which is more than sufficient for multitasking and running demanding applications. Users will have a choice of either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, catering to different needs for space. Additionally, the device is expected to support expandable storage via a microSD card, allowing users to increase their storage capacity further.
Camera and Battery
The new BlackBerry Key 2 will come with a total of three cameras. On the front of the handset, there will be a single 8-megapixel camera designed for selfies and video calls. This front camera should be adequate for most users’ needs, providing clear and detailed images.
On the back, the device will feature a dual-camera setup, consisting of two 12-megapixel cameras. This dual-camera system is expected to offer enhanced photo quality, with features such as portrait mode, optical zoom, and improved low-light performance. The dual cameras will likely appeal to photography enthusiasts and professionals who require high-quality images from their smartphones.
The handset will also come with Android 8.1 Oreo, offering a modern and secure operating system with access to the latest features and updates. The BlackBerry Key 2 will be equipped with a 3500 mAh battery, which should provide ample battery life for most users. The inclusion of Quick Charge 3.0 technology means that the device can be charged rapidly, minimizing downtime and ensuring that users can stay connected throughout the day.
Additional Features and Security
In addition to its hardware specifications, the BlackBerry Key 2 is expected to come with several software enhancements and security features. BlackBerry has a reputation for prioritizing security, and the Key 2 will likely include features such as a secure boot process, regular security updates, and the DTEK security app, which monitors the device for potential threats.
The device is also expected to include a fingerprint sensor, integrated into the spacebar of the QWERTY keyboard, providing an additional layer of security and convenience for unlocking the device and authenticating transactions.
We will have full details on BlackBerry’s latest Android smartphone when the device gets official tomorrow. Stay tuned for more information on pricing, availability, and additional features that the BlackBerry Key 2 will bring to the table.
