If you would prefer a more natural material finish used to create your bike frame rather than metal, carbon fiber, aluminium or titanium.
You might be interested in this new bike frame which has been created by Andy Martin, from steam bent beech tree wood, for the furniture manufacturer Thonet.
The beech wood bike frame was cut using a CNC machine and then shaped using old school wood steam bending techniques, and then reinforced using spring rods, even the saddle has be carved from a piece of beech wood to complete the design.
“The challenge was to take on the fairly low tech process of steam bending and then apply it to a 21st century bicycle with highly complex engineering.”
If you are interested in owning a beech wooden bike Andy Martin will be happy to create one for $70,000.
