Audi will take the wraps off the new Audi S1 at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and it will go on sale in the UK in May of 2014.
The Audi S1 will come with a 230 HP version of its turbocharged 2.0 litre engine which is currently used in the Audi S3, and it will also come with Audi’s Quattro four-wheel drive system as standard.
Over the original Audi A1, the Audi S1 will feature a deeper body kit, larger air intakes in the front bumper, and it is expected to be available in both three-door and five-door versions.
Performance and Specifications
The Audi S1’s 2.0 litre turbocharged engine is a marvel of modern engineering, delivering a robust 230 horsepower. This engine is the same powerhouse found in the Audi S3, ensuring that the S1 will have plenty of performance to match its sporty looks. The Quattro four-wheel drive system, which comes as standard, will provide excellent traction and handling, making the S1 a joy to drive in all conditions. This system is particularly beneficial in wet or slippery conditions, where it can help to prevent wheel spin and maintain stability.
In addition to its powerful engine and advanced drivetrain, the Audi S1 will also feature a sport-tuned suspension system. This will help to ensure that the car handles well on twisty roads, providing a responsive and engaging driving experience. The S1 is also expected to come with larger brakes than the standard A1, providing improved stopping power to match its increased performance.
Design and Features
The exterior design of the Audi S1 will set it apart from the standard A1. The deeper body kit and larger air intakes in the front bumper give the car a more aggressive and sporty appearance. These design elements are not just for show; they also help to improve the car’s aerodynamics and cooling. The S1 is expected to be available in both three-door and five-door versions, providing buyers with a choice of body styles to suit their needs.
Inside, the Audi S1 will feature a high-quality interior with sporty touches. Expect to find sports seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and plenty of S1 badging throughout the cabin. The car will also come with a range of advanced technology features, including Audi’s MMI infotainment system, which provides navigation, entertainment, and connectivity options.
The Audi S1 is expected to go on sale in the UK in May, but as yet there are no details on how much this new mini Audi will retail for. Given its performance and features, it is likely to be priced higher than the standard A1, but it will still offer good value for money compared to other performance cars in its class.
