Verizon has released its latest smartphone sales data, and apple’s iPhone accounted for more than half of its total smartphones sales for quarter one of 2012, with Verizon activating more than 3.2 million iPhones for the quarter.
This number is down from 4.3 million activations for their previous quarter, although the iPhone 4S was actually launched in the previous quarter, which would explain the higher numbers over this quarter.
Apple sold a total of 37 million iPhone’s in the previous quarter, and these sales are expected to be down slightly for the next quarter according to various analysts.
Verizon sold a total of 6.3 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2012, so sales of the 3.2 million iPhone’s are over half of Verizon’s total smartphone sales, they also announced that they sold a total of 2.9 million LTE devices for the same quarter, and LTE users now make up 9.1 percent of Verizon’s total customers.
