The iPhone 5S has become an incredibly popular smartphone for Apple, the handset was very hard to get hold of for the first month, and supplies of the handset are still low.
The UK Apple store is currently showing shipping times of two to three weeks for the iPhone 5S, Apple’s new iPad Mini with Retina display is also expected to be in short supply when it launches later this month.
Now according to a recent report by the , Apple is looking to increase production of its smartphones and tablets by adding two new manufacturing partners to its current list of manufacturers.
The Majority of Apple’s current devices are produced by Foxconn, Pegatron also build iOS devices for Apple, the two new companies are, Wistron who will make the iPhone 5S and Compal, who will make the new iPad Mini for Apple.
Apple recently launched their new iPad Air, there do not seem to be any supply problems for this model at the moment, as the device is currently shipping within 24 hours, of course this could change between now and Christmas.
It looks like supply of the iPhone 5S and also the new iPad Mini may not be able to meet demand until next year, of course this depends on how many of each device Apple can produce between now and the end of the year.
