Amazon has launched its new stand-alone music streaming service, Amazon Music Unlimited, and the service is now available in the US.
Prices for the new Amazon Music Unlimited start at $4 a month to use it with the Amazon Echo, Dot, or Tap. If you want to use it with other devices like your smartphone or tablet, it will cost you $10 a month, or $8 if you are a Prime subscriber.
Subscription Plans and Pricing
There is also a family plan which costs $15 and this will allow six people to use the service at the same time. The family plan has not launched as yet, but it will be ‘coming soon’. This plan is particularly beneficial for households with multiple users, as it offers significant savings compared to individual subscriptions.
Amazon Music Unlimited is different from the company’s Prime Music, which comes as part of their Prime subscription. Prime Music has around 2 million music tracks, whereas the new Amazon Music Unlimited boasts tens of millions of tracks. This vast library includes a wide range of genres, from pop and rock to classical and jazz, ensuring that there is something for everyone.
Device Compatibility and Availability
The new Music Unlimited service is now available in the US on Amazon devices, iOS, Android, and the web. It is also coming to the UK, Austria, and Germany before the end of the year. This broad availability ensures that users can access their favorite music on a variety of devices, whether they are at home or on the go.
Amazon Music Unlimited offers several features that enhance the user experience. For example, it includes curated playlists and personalized recommendations based on your listening habits. This makes it easier to discover new music that you might enjoy. Additionally, the service offers offline listening, allowing you to download songs and albums to your device for playback without an internet connection.
Another notable feature is the integration with Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant. With Alexa, you can control your music with simple voice commands. For instance, you can ask Alexa to play a specific song, artist, or genre, or even request music to match your mood or activity. This hands-free control is particularly convenient when you are busy with other tasks.
Amazon Music Unlimited also supports high-quality audio streaming, ensuring that you can enjoy your music with excellent sound quality. This is an important consideration for audiophiles who want the best possible listening experience.
In addition to individual and family plans, Amazon offers a discounted student plan for eligible college students. This plan provides all the benefits of Amazon Music Unlimited at a reduced price, making it an attractive option for students on a budget.
Overall, Amazon Music Unlimited is a comprehensive music streaming service that offers a wide range of features and a vast music library. Whether you are a casual listener or a dedicated music enthusiast, there is something for everyone. With competitive pricing and flexible subscription options, it is a strong contender in the crowded music streaming market.
