With the launch of Nintendo’s Wii U console edging closer, the company has now started rolling out TV advertising and has released its first Wii U TV advert over the weekend in the UK.
The new Nintendo Wii U advertisement seems to be targeted at a certain gaming market and announces in the first few seconds that the Wii U is a “brand new console with a brand new controller.”

Innovative Features of the Wii U
During the minute-long TV commercial, Nintendo unveils what is possible using their new Wii U controller, which isn’t available on other gaming consoles. The Wii U GamePad features a 6.2-inch touchscreen that can be used in conjunction with the main TV screen or independently, offering a unique dual-screen experience. This allows for innovative gameplay mechanics, such as using the GamePad as a map or inventory screen in games like “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” or as a motion controller in games like “Nintendo Land.”
The commercial also provides a glimpse at some of the games that will be available when it arrives later this year. Titles such as “New Super Mario Bros. U,” “ZombiU,” and “Nintendo Land” are showcased, highlighting the diverse range of genres and gameplay experiences that the Wii U will offer. The GamePad’s ability to support asymmetric gameplay, where one player uses the GamePad while others use traditional controllers, is also emphasized, showcasing the console’s potential for local multiplayer experiences.
Wii U Bundles and Pricing
When the Wii U launches on November 18th, the games console will be available in two bundles: the Basic set and the Deluxe set. The Basic set, priced at $299.99, comes with 8GB of memory and includes the console, a GamePad, an HDMI cable, a Wii U sensor bar, and an AC adapter. This bundle is ideal for those who want to experience the core features of the Wii U without additional accessories.
The Nintendo Wii U Deluxe set, priced at $349.99, is equipped with 32GB of internal memory and includes everything in the Basic configuration. Additionally, it comes with a GamePad charging cradle, GamePad and console stand, the “Nintendo Land” game, and Deluxe Digital Promotion enrollment. This promotion offers points for every digital download purchase, which can be redeemed for future purchases, providing added value for those who plan to buy digital games.
The Wii U’s launch is highly anticipated, as it marks Nintendo’s first foray into high-definition gaming and introduces several new features that set it apart from its competitors. The GamePad’s touchscreen and motion controls offer new ways to interact with games, while the console’s backward compatibility with Wii games and accessories ensures that existing Nintendo fans can continue to enjoy their favorite titles.
In addition to the games showcased in the commercial, several other highly anticipated titles are expected to be released for the Wii U, including “Pikmin 3,” “Bayonetta 2,” and “Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.” These games, along with the innovative features of the console, are likely to attract a wide range of gamers, from casual players to hardcore enthusiasts.
