The BBC has today rolled out a great new update for its iPlayer iOS application which brings with it support for Apple’s AirPlay features. The new update will now allow you to stream content from the BBC iPlayer application directly to your big-screen HD TV through Apple’s TV device.
The update provides a great improvement for BBC viewers in countries other than the UK who may have not been able to view the BBC content on large screen HDTV’s.
Now users in countries such as Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, The Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland have enjoyed BBC TV shows via their iPad or iPhone iPlayer applications. Some content available in these countries is free on the BBC iPlayer but to get access to all TV shows users will need to pay a $7.99 monthly subscription.
