Adding to the mass of tablets that have either been revealed or launched this past week, ZiiLabs has just unveiled their new Jaguar tablet designed to run Android Honeycomb and be available as an OEM device.
The new Jaguar series is available in either a 7 inch or 10 inch model and both use the latest ZiiLABS ZMS-20 and ZMS-40 StemCell Processors with Dual and Quad Core 1.5GHz ARM Cortex A9 cores. Together with 1080p high profile video playback, immersive OpenGL ES 2.0 3D graphics, high-quality HD video calling and include browsing with Adobe’s Flash Player.
Hock Leow, president of ZiiLABS explains:
“As consumer demand for a wide-range of smarter, more connected tablets increases, so do the OEMs’ needs to innovate while also shrinking their time-to-market. The JAGUAR platform combines our deep understanding and experience working on consumer devices and tablets with our ZMS processors, reference platforms, software and certification know-how to deliver a state-of-the-art platform that minimizes the complexities of introducing next-generation tablets.”
Advanced Features and Capabilities
The Jaguar tablets are not just about raw processing power; they are designed to offer a comprehensive multimedia experience. The 1080p high profile video playback ensures that users can enjoy high-definition content without any lag or stutter. This is particularly beneficial for streaming services and video playback applications, making the Jaguar tablets ideal for entertainment purposes.
Moreover, the immersive OpenGL ES 2.0 3D graphics capability opens up a world of possibilities for gaming and interactive applications. This feature allows developers to create visually stunning and highly responsive games that can run smoothly on the Jaguar tablets. The high-quality HD video calling feature is another significant addition, making it easier for users to stay connected with friends and family through crystal-clear video calls.
Market Position and Potential
The introduction of the Jaguar tablets comes at a time when the tablet market is highly competitive. With major players like Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft dominating the space, ZiiLabs aims to carve out a niche by offering a versatile and powerful platform that can be customized by OEMs. This flexibility allows manufacturers to tailor the Jaguar tablets to meet specific market needs, whether it’s for education, business, or general consumer use.
The inclusion of Adobe’s Flash Player for browsing is another strategic move. Despite the decline in Flash usage, many websites still rely on it for video and interactive content. By supporting Flash, the Jaguar tablets ensure that users have a more comprehensive browsing experience, capable of accessing a wider range of online content.
