Google has announced that it is launching its YouTube Music and YouTube Premium services in the UK.
As well as the UK, the services are also launching in Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, and Sweden. This expansion marks a significant step for Google as it aims to compete more aggressively in the global streaming market.
What YouTube Music Offers
YouTube Music is designed to provide a more tailored music streaming experience. It offers a vast library of songs, albums, and playlists, along with music videos, live performances, and covers. One of the standout features is its ability to recommend music based on your listening habits, location, and even the time of day. For instance, if you frequently listen to upbeat tracks during your morning commute, YouTube Music will suggest similar songs to keep your energy levels high.
Additionally, YouTube Music includes a smart search feature that allows users to find songs even if they don’t know the exact title or artist. You can search using lyrics or even descriptions like “that new song with the whistling.” This makes it easier for users to discover new music and rediscover old favorites.
Benefits of YouTube Premium
YouTube Premium also launches today. Starting today, YouTube Premium (formerly YouTube Red) will be available in 17 countries, providing members with the benefits of Music Premium, plus ad-free, background, and downloads across all of YouTube. YouTube Premium members also get access to the full slate of YouTube Originals shows and movies including the hit series Cobra Kai, Impulse, F2 Finding Football, and The Sidemen Show.
Premium is Google’s premium video service that was previously known as YouTube Red. This will set you back £11.99 a month for a single plan. There is also a family membership for £17.99 a month, which lets up to six family members use it. This also includes YouTube Music in the price.
One of the key benefits of YouTube Premium is the ad-free experience. Users can watch videos without interruptions, which is particularly useful for long-form content like documentaries or tutorials. Another significant advantage is the ability to download videos for offline viewing. This is perfect for users who travel frequently or have limited internet access.
Background play is another feature that enhances the user experience. It allows videos to continue playing in the background while you use other apps or when your screen is off. This is especially useful for listening to music or podcasts on YouTube.
YouTube Originals is another compelling reason to subscribe. The platform offers a variety of exclusive content, including popular series and movies. Shows like “Cobra Kai” have garnered a massive following, and being a Premium member gives you access to all episodes without any additional cost.
