Xiaomi has started selling its handsets in markets outside China, and it seems the company is getting its fair share of success in those regions. The Chinese OEM launched the Xiaomi Mi3 in India, which went on sale several times in the past few weeks and hardly took a few seconds to sell out.
Now, the company is expanding its product portfolio in India by introducing the budget-friendly Redmi 1S, which will go on sale from September 2nd and will come with a Rs. 5,999 ($99).
Flipkart mentioned that almost 40,000 units of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S will go on sale on September 2nd. Customers interested in the handset must register on the retailer’s website if they want to score a handset. The listing on Flipkart mentioned that over 100,000 people have already registered for the pre-sale, and you should too before September 1st if you want to purchase the handset.
The handset brings an excellent set of specifications on board, considering that it only costs $99. There’s a 4.7-inch HD display sporting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with a 312ppi pixel density. Under the hood, the device comes with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC clocked at 1.6GHz with Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM.
The handset also feature 8GB of internal memory with a microSD card slot, 8MP camera for photos and videos, a 2,000 mAh battery and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with MIUI skin on top of it.
