Those of you that enjoy using the Arduino platform to build electronic projects, a new WifiDuino device which has this week launched over on the Indiegogo crowd funding website, ma be worth more investigation.
WifiDuino has been designed to offer users an open-source Arduino-compatible, wifi-enabled board. Enabling makers and developers to use Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment) interface platform to easily create Wi-Fi support devices. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the WifiDuino project and see it in action.
Although there is already an Arduino Wi-Fi shield the WifiDuino device has been designed with a smaller form factor in mind, is more reasonably priced and has been created to be a lot easier to use. Its inventors explain a little more:
“We designed WifiDuino based on our belief in the future of the Internet of Things when everything is connected to the internet. We will be living in a world when every object can communicate with each other using Wi-Fi.
You will be using your cell phone to control any objects at home with Wi-Fi, which means your home base objects will be smarter than they are now. WifiDuino is the future hardware.
WifiDuino is an open source project, which means you are welcome to develop and improve the project if you want. It is also ideal for beginners too. WifiDuino and Arduino are used the same chip. You can quickly learn how to make things with WifiDuino with its rich library resources from the Arduino database.”
So if you think WifiDuino is something your Arduino projects could benefit from, visit the Indiegogo website now to make a pledge and help WifiDuino become a reality.
