At the IFA this week in Berlin Vestel has unveiled the worlds first BitTorrent Certified TV Prototype which Vestel have created in partnership with BitTorrent. The new prototype TV allows users to download, share and play files directly from their TV.
Vestel’s Hakan Kutlu the reasons behind the development of the new BitTorrent TV:
“Consumers want all types of personal media and internet content in their living rooms and the TV remains the most desired device for consuming this digital media, regardless of source,” – “Bittorrent certification helps our TV line meet this consumer demand and ensures that Vestel products remain at the forefront of technology innovation and adoption.”
Currently BitTorrent has around 100 million users who are computer based, but with the development of the new prototype BitTorrent TV that could change significantly in the near future.
