I didn’t even know there was a category in the Guinness World Records for the world’s fastest furniture, but apparently there is, and the previous record was held by a motorized sofa which was capable of 92mph.
Well, it looks like that record has now been broken by Perry Watkins from the UK, who has built the world’s fastest dining table and claimed the record for the world’s fastest piece of furniture.
Perry Watkins built his dining table car using a dining table and a Reliant Scimitar Sabre V8 convertible, and added in some nitrous oxide to make it faster.
The result was a motorized dining table which averaged a speed of 113.8mph, and as you can see from the photo above, he even had plates and some champagne bolted to his dining table car.
The Engineering Behind the Fastest Dining Table
Creating the world’s fastest dining table was no small feat. Perry Watkins, a seasoned car enthusiast and inventor, meticulously engineered this unique vehicle. The base of the dining table car is a Reliant Scimitar Sabre V8 convertible, a car known for its robust performance and reliability. By integrating a powerful V8 engine, Watkins ensured that the dining table had the necessary horsepower to break the previous record.
To further enhance the speed, Watkins incorporated nitrous oxide, a common performance enhancer in the automotive world. Nitrous oxide provides a significant boost in power by increasing the amount of oxygen available during combustion, allowing the engine to burn more fuel and produce more power. This addition was crucial in achieving the remarkable speed of 113.8mph.
The Quirky Details and Public Reaction
One of the most fascinating aspects of Watkins’ creation is the attention to detail. The dining table car is not just a high-speed vehicle; it is also a fully functional dining setup. Plates, cutlery, and even a bottle of champagne are securely fastened to the table, adding a whimsical touch to this engineering marvel. This blend of functionality and speed has captured the imagination of many, making it a popular topic of discussion among car enthusiasts and the general public alike.
The public reaction to Watkins’ creation has been overwhelmingly positive. Many people are fascinated by the idea of combining everyday furniture with high-speed engineering. This project has also sparked interest in the broader category of motorized furniture, with enthusiasts exploring new and creative ways to push the boundaries of what is possible.
