The Google Home Max was made official along with the Google Home Mini back in October. Google previously said that the Max would launch in December and it is now available to buy in the US.
The new Home Max retails for $399 in the US and the device is available from a number of retailers, this includes Best Buy and Verizon Wireless, the device does not appear to be available as yet from the Google Store.
Smart Sound Technology
Max is our first speaker with Smart Sound, a new audio experience powered by Google’s artificial intelligence. It’s what allows Max to adapt to you—your environment, your context, and your preferences. Smart Sound automatically adjusts for where you place Max in a room, so if you decide to move your speaker a few feet, it will dynamically tune itself within seconds.
This innovative feature ensures that you always get the best audio experience, no matter where you place the speaker. For example, if you move the Home Max from a corner to the center of the room, Smart Sound will recalibrate the audio output to suit the new location. This is particularly useful in homes with open floor plans or for users who frequently rearrange their furniture.
Design and Build
The Google Home Max is designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind. It features a sleek, minimalist design that can blend seamlessly into any home decor. The fabric-covered front not only looks stylish but also helps in delivering clear and crisp sound. The device is available in two colors: Chalk and Charcoal, allowing you to choose the one that best matches your interior.
The build quality is robust, ensuring that the speaker can withstand the rigors of daily use. The touch controls on the top of the device are intuitive and responsive, making it easy to adjust the volume or play/pause your music.
Audio Performance
When it comes to audio performance, the Google Home Max does not disappoint. It is equipped with dual 4.5-inch woofers and custom tweeters, delivering deep bass and crystal-clear highs. Whether you’re listening to your favorite music, watching a movie, or catching up on a podcast, the Home Max provides an immersive audio experience.
The speaker also supports a wide range of audio formats, ensuring compatibility with various streaming services and devices. Additionally, it features far-field voice recognition, allowing you to control the speaker with voice commands even from across the room.
Integration with Google Ecosystem
One of the standout features of the Google Home Max is its seamless integration with the Google ecosystem. You can use it to control other smart home devices, such as lights, thermostats, and security cameras, using just your voice. The speaker also supports Google Assistant, providing you with answers to your questions, weather updates, and more.
Moreover, the Home Max can be paired with other Google Home devices to create a multi-room audio setup. This allows you to play the same music throughout your home or different tracks in different rooms, all controlled from a single device.
