We previously heard that the new Tesla Model 3 would be looking to take on the BMW 3 series, the Mercedes C Class and the Audi A4 and now it would appear that there will be two models of the car.
The Tesla Model 3 was previously rumored to be a sedan, although now it would appear that it will come in two different versions, as sedan and crossover.
The new Tesla is expected to be considerably cheaper than the current models and will apparently retail for around $35,000 in the US and around £30,000 in the UK.
The news of the two versions of the Tesla Model 3 was confirmed to the Wall Street Journal by Tesla’s chief technical officer, JB Straubel and these new electric vehicles are expected to go on sale some time in 2017.
Tesla are also working on a new SUV, the Tesla Model X which is expected to launch before the end of the year.
It will be interesting to see what the new Model 3 is like, if the car is as interesting as the Model S and comes with similar performance, then Tesla should be able to take on the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes.
