Last month, Microsoft unveiled the bigger Surface Pro 3 at a press event. The i5 models of the tablet went on sale yesterday, with the 128GB model delayed for those who will order it now.
As far as the i3 and i7 Surface Pro 3 models are concerned, Microsoft announced they will hit the retail shelves by 31st August in several regions. However, it seems things might have changed now as both models are shipping earlier then expected.
Now, it seems the models will hit the retail shelves on 1st August, 30 days earlier than its announced date. The news came directly from Microsoft’s Panos Panay who said the tablets will be available in the US and Canada by 1st August.
Microsoft’s Panos Panay said, “Those who are interested in the Core i3 and Core i7 versions will remember that when we first announced the product we said these would be shipping “in August.“ Thanks to some great work by our team, I can confirm that, in this case, “in August” means August 1, which is when these versions will arrive in stores and at commercial resellers in Canada and the US.”
He further said regarding the availability, “By the end of August 2014, Intel® Core™i3, i5, and i7 versions of Surface Pro 3, as well as select new accessories, will become available for purchase in 26 additional markets: Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Kingdom.”
What do you think about this? This should come as a good news for Surface fans who are eagerly waiting for the top-end models of the tablet. They still have to wait for a month, but it’s still better.
