Switching smartphones can be a real pain as you have to first create a backup of you old phone and transfer it to your new handset, which can be a painful task.
If you’re switching to an Xperia handset, Sony has made sure the process is as simple as it can be, thanks to the Xperia Transfer Mobile application that lets users transfer data from their old iPhone or Android device to their new Xperia handset.
The application give users the ability to transfer Contacts, Calendar, SMS, MMS, Bookmarks, Notes, Photos, Music, Videos, Apps** (iPhone™ only) to their new Xperia handset. To get started, you need to install and activate the application on both devices. Make sure you’re running Android 4.3 or higher on your Xperia device. In case of the device you need to transfer the data from, make sure they’re on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or iOS 4.0 or higher for iPhone.
The application will then connect both device via NFC or via a PIN code. Once connected, you can easily create a backup from one device, and push it to your Xperia handset.
It seems Sony is following the footsteps of Motorola who released a standalone application known as Motorola Migrate that give users the ability to transfer their data to a Motorola device.
