There may not be a cure for a broken heart, but a leaked credit card number is a horse of an altogether different colour. Sony for their part seem to think two games per compromised account ought to do the job nicely. And while you wouldn’t expect people having their personal info stolen and their multiplayer service shut down for almost a month to forgive and forget just like that, go read the comments on the PlayStation Blog announcing the deal for a primer on the human capacity to forgive.
We’re almost certain that among all the guerilla marketers Sony undoubtedly hired to thank them profusely for their generosity there are real customers doing much the same. If you’re a PS3, you get to choose from Dead Nation, inFAMOUS, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD, and Wipeout HD + Fury. If you prefer your reparations in a more portable flavour, you can choose from LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force, and Killzone Liberation. Also, despite the largest leak of personal info being of European origin, this offer is just for the US and Canada. No word on the reasoning yet, but one look at European console prices should remind you straightaway of just how much Sony hates Europe.
Update: Turns out the offer is also available for Europe, but with Ratchet & Clank Quest for Booty replacing Super Stardust HD. We take it all back. Except the part about Sony gouging Europeans with console prices, that’s pretty much the same.
