That’s usually what you do when somebody ruins your stuff, isn’t it? And the reason Sony is taking all this sweet time is because they want to make sure they don’t have a repeat of this little episode any time soon. Or at least that’s what they’re telling us, because common sense, on the other hand, dictates that what with the free European Xbox Live weekend going on and whatnot, they would have put PSN back online the second they knew what was wrong with it.
“Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security,” reads a PlayStation Blog post from Sony’s Patrick Seybold. Nothing wrong with an extra layer of security, but if someone can take your global gaming service down for five days, maybe the first layer wasn’t much more than wishful thinking.
