Sony has expanded its NEX interchangeable lens camera range with the addition of a HD video camera, the Sony NEX-VG10. The Sony NEX-VG10 features the same Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor that can be found in the NEX-3 and NEX-4.
The Sony NEX-VG10 is capable of recording HD video in a 1920 x 1080 resolution at 23 megabits per second in AVCHD format and can shoot 14.2 megapixel photos, and you have the option to use a wide range of lenses with this new video camera.
Versatile Lens Options
The lenses available include a fisheye, telephoto, and wide-angled lens, providing users with a broad spectrum of creative possibilities. The NEX-VG10 comes bundled with an E-mount 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS zoom lens, which is particularly versatile for various shooting scenarios, from wide landscapes to close-up portraits. Additionally, there will be a range of E-mount lenses available at launch, plus an A-mount adapter that will let you use any lenses from the Sony Alpha DSLR camera range. This adaptability makes the NEX-VG10 a highly flexible tool for both amateur and professional videographers.
Advanced Features and Battery Life
The Sony NEX-VG10 is not just about interchangeable lenses; it also boasts several advanced features that enhance its usability and performance. For instance, it includes a Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Microphone, which captures high-quality audio to complement the stunning visuals. This microphone is designed to reduce background noise and focus on the subject, making it ideal for interviews and live events.
Moreover, the camera is equipped with an NP-VF70 battery that will give you around 155 minutes of video recording. This extended battery life ensures that you can capture long events or multiple takes without constantly worrying about recharging. The camera also supports Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, providing ample storage options for your high-definition videos and high-resolution photos.
The NEX-VG10 also features a 3-inch LCD screen that can be tilted, allowing for flexible shooting angles and better framing of your shots. This is particularly useful for low-angle or high-angle shots where it might be challenging to look through the viewfinder.
The Sony NEX-VG10 will go on sale in September for $2,000, and it comes equipped with an NP-VF70 battery that will give you around 155 minutes of video recording.
