Sony has expanded its NEX interchangeable lens camera range with the addition of a HD video camera, the Sony NEX-VG10. The Sony NEX-VG10 features the same Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor that can be found in the NEX-3 and NEX-4.
The Sony NEX-VG10 is capable of recording HD video in a 1920 x 1080 resolution at 23 megabits per second in AVCHD format and can shoot 14.2 megapixel photos, and you have the option to use a wide range of lenses with this new video camera.
The lenses available include a fisheye, telephoto and wide angled lens, and the NEX-VG10 comes bundled with an E-mount 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS zoom lens, and there will be a range of E-mount lenses available at launch plus an A-mount adapter that will let you use any lenses from the Sony Alpha DSLR camera range.
The Sony NEX-VG10 will go on sale in September for $2,000, and it comes equiped with an NP-VF70 battery that will give you around 155 minutes of video recording.
