Sonos has announced the launch of their first ever limited edition speaker, the Sonos Blue Note Play:1, which is being launched to celebrate 75 years of Blue Note Records.
This limited edition Sonos Blue Note Play:1 speaker comes with a blue color scheme, and only 4,100 units of the speaker will be made.
Celebrating a Legacy of Music
Blue Note Records has been a cornerstone of jazz music since its inception in 1939. Over the years, it has been home to some of the most influential jazz artists, including John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Thelonious Monk. The collaboration between Sonos and Blue Note Records is a celebration of this rich musical heritage. By launching the Sonos Blue Note Play:1, Sonos aims to honor the legacy of Blue Note Records while providing a high-quality listening experience that captures the essence of jazz.
“Music is meant to convey an emotional message to the listener. You don’t want anything interfering with that message and Sonos shares Blue Note’s dedication to this,” said Blue Note President, Don Was. “Fidelity is true. Give me the truth.”
“We wanted to create an expression of Blue Note’s singular style while embracing all the idiosyncrasies of a live performance,” said Sonos VP of Design Tad Toulis. “This mindset led us to the design solution – one which captures a singular moment in the act of creation.”
Design and Features
The Sonos Blue Note Play:1 is not just a speaker; it is a piece of art. The blue color scheme is a nod to the iconic Blue Note album covers, which often featured bold and striking designs. The speaker’s compact size makes it perfect for any room, and its wireless capabilities mean you can place it anywhere without worrying about cords.
In terms of features, the Sonos Blue Note Play:1 offers the same high-quality sound that Sonos is known for. It includes two Class-D amplifiers, one tweeter, and one mid-woofer, all of which work together to deliver a rich, full-bodied sound. The speaker also supports a wide range of streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, and of course, Blue Note Records’ own streaming service.
Exclusive Content
To make this limited edition speaker even more special, Sonos has partnered with Blue Note Records to offer exclusive content. Owners of the Sonos Blue Note Play:1 will have access to a curated playlist of Blue Note classics, as well as exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes content. This adds an extra layer of value to the speaker, making it a must-have for any jazz aficionado.
