If you find holding your iPhone while taking video a little tricky and awkward for long periods, this new Slingshot stabilizer might be worth more investigation. The Slingshot has been designed by Charles Waugh to help assist iPhone users whilst recording video footage.
Its constructed from injection-molded acetal resin, trade name: Delrin. This material is the same plastic used to create industrial gears and other tough products and is able to twist and bend without breaking. This makes it an ideal choice for a stabilizer that needs to be both durable and flexible.
Design and Features
Dissatisfied with the available iPhone stabilizers on the market, Waugh thought he would design a solution himself and created the Slingshot, which is currently over on the Kickstarter website looking for funding.
The Slingshot features a unique cradle that holds any smartphone nice and tight, yet gently – even if it has a case on it. This is achieved through the use of over-molded rubber pads on the tip of each ‘wing’. This design is similar to the rubber areas molded over the plastic body of a toothbrush handle. The combination of the toughness of plastic and the grippiness of rubber ensures that your smartphone is securely held in place without any risk of damage.
