Surfers looking for a more surfing style experience while using their skateboard on concrete may be interested in a new skateboard surf adapter which is being created by Waterborne Skateboards. The Skateboard Surf Adapter has been specifically designed to be easily attached to your own skateboard and provide the best Surf experience on concrete. Check out the video below to learn more about this awesome piece of kit which has launched via Kickstarter and already raised nearly 3 times its required pledge goal thanks to over 330 backers with still 17 days remaining on its campaign.
The development team behind the Skateboard Surf Adapter explain more about its inspiration, design and construction.
We made a piece of hardware called a Surf Adapter that lets you turn any ordinary skateboard into a surfskate. Any size or shape of board can be made to pump for speed, carve extremely tightly, and slide with control. All you do is bolt the adapter to your front truck. It basically lets you get the highest possible performance out of YOUR skateboard. It’s still everything you love about your board that gets amplified by the ability to carve sharp, buttery turns. It’s a way more fun way to skate around. It just changes everything!
Standard trucks, reverse kingpin, even dual kingpin trucks, all fail to bring a genuine Surfing Experience to skating. The solution is right under your feet, and its your board! The board that your feet are used to is the right board for you. The board that floats you to class, grinds curbs, or steezzes you down the beach is waiting for our Surf Adapter. The Adapter is also built for speed and many other types of riding. Watch this clip of a World Champ Downhiller testing the adapter!
