Both Samsung and HTC have launched smaller versions of their flagship Android smartphones, in the form of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and the HTC One Mini.
Now we have a video comparing the two devices’ specifications side by side, which was put together by the guys over at Clove. Have a look at the video below.
Display and Design
The One Mini features a 4.3 inch HD display that has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This high-definition display ensures that users get a crisp and clear viewing experience, making it ideal for watching videos and browsing photos. The device also boasts a sleek aluminum body, which gives it a premium feel and a sturdy build.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini features a 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. While the resolution is lower compared to the One Mini, the Super AMOLED technology ensures vibrant colors and deep blacks, which is a signature of Samsung displays. The S4 Mini has a plastic body, which makes it lighter but less premium in feel compared to the HTC One Mini.
Performance and Software
Processing power for the HTC One Mini comes in the form of a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM. This combination is sufficient for everyday tasks such as browsing the web, checking emails, and using social media apps. However, it might struggle with more demanding applications and multitasking.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, on the other hand, is equipped with a slightly more powerful dual-core 1.7GHz processor and also features 1.5GB of RAM. This gives it a slight edge in performance, allowing for smoother multitasking and better handling of resource-intensive applications. The S4 Mini comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, which includes Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, offering additional features and customization options.
Both devices come with their own set of unique software features. The HTC One Mini includes HTC’s Sense UI, which provides a clean and intuitive user experience. It also features BlinkFeed, a personalized news feed that aggregates content from various sources directly on the home screen. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, with its TouchWiz interface, offers features like S Health, which tracks your fitness activities, and S Voice, a voice assistant similar to Apple’s Siri.
Camera and Battery Life
When it comes to photography, the HTC One Mini is equipped with a 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera. This camera technology focuses on capturing more light, which results in better low-light performance and more detailed photos. The front-facing camera is 1.6 megapixels, suitable for video calls and selfies.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini features an 8-megapixel rear camera, which is capable of capturing high-resolution photos and Full HD videos. The front-facing camera is 1.9 megapixels, offering slightly better quality for selfies and video calls compared to the One Mini.
Battery life is another important aspect to consider. The HTC One Mini comes with a 1,800mAh battery, which should last a full day with moderate use. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, on the other hand, is equipped with a 1,900mAh battery, providing a bit more juice to get through the day.
In conclusion, both the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and the HTC One Mini offer compelling features in a compact form factor. The choice between the two will largely depend on personal preferences regarding display quality, build materials, and software features. Whether you prioritize a premium design and better low-light camera performance with the HTC One Mini, or prefer the vibrant display and additional software features of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, both devices are solid options in the mini smartphone market.
