Not too long ago, Samsung Russia started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 3 in the region, and it seems the company plans to update older devices to the latest operating system first.
Recently, the Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) started getting Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update in Russia. The update is rolling out for the Exynos variant of the device, and is sized at a whopping 1094MB so make sure you’re connected to a WiFi network before you download the update.
The update bring a handful of new features to the handset which were introduced with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update, such as the all-new Material design layout which brings smooth animations and visual changes, as well as improved lock screen notifications which allows users to manage them from the lock screen with minimum effort.
You should get the update via an OTA over the next few days, and it may take a little longer since the process is gradual. If you don’t want to wait for the OTA, you can manually check for the update manually by going to Settings > About Phone.
