We recently heard that Samsung showed off their foldable smartphone behind closed doors at CES earlier this month, now it would appear that Samsung showed off another device, their new Exynos 5G Modem.
According to a recent report Samsung revealed its new Exynos 5G Modem to its partners in private at CES 2018.
Samsung are expected to announce their new 5G modem later this year and the company will also start trials of the technology this year ahead of its commercial launch in 2019.
The company currently uses its own processors in many of its devices but also uses processors from Qualcomm in many if its devices as well. These Exynos processors with 5G built in are expected to be used in the majority of Samsung’s new 5G smartphones.
This would allow the company to rely less on Qualcomm for its processors and let it switch more devices to its own processors. Many of its flagships smartphones are available with both Qualcomm and its owns Exynos processor at the moment.
