3D TV never really took off and now it looks like both Samsung and LG plan to phase out 3D TV over the next few years.
According to a recent report by What HiFi, both Samsung and LG plan to stop producing TVs with the technology in a couple of years.
The Decline of 3D TV Technology
The concept of 3D TV was initially met with much enthusiasm and high expectations. The idea of bringing a cinema-like 3D experience into the living room was appealing to many consumers. 40% of LG’s TVs in 2015 had 3D functions, this will apparently change this year and only 20% of their TVs will come with 3D. Samsung is also looking at phasing out its range of 3D TVs over the next few years, we can expect to see less of these TVs from them this year as well.
