Apple’s iPhones, Samsung’s smartphones and other gadgets are expected to be banned in Russia from 2020. It has been revealed that Russia will ban sales of gadgets, smartphones, TVs and more that do not have Russian software installed.
According to a recent report Russia is looking to promote Russian technology, although there are concerns about privacy and what will happen to devices from companies like Samsung and Apple.
Apple and Samsung and other major electronics manufacturers may choose not to sell their devices in Russia instead of having to install different software on them. I cannot see Apple ever wanting to install anything other than their own iOS on their iPhones and iPads.
There are also concerns that any Russian made software could be used to spy on people, the country has introduced more strict Internet laws over the last few years.
It will be interesting to see what happens and whether large technology companies like Apple and Samsung will decide to use Russian software on their devices or stop selling them in the country.
