According to a new report, Samsung’s upcoming flagship device, the Galaxy S8, will not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack.
There will be a Type-C port instead, which means that you’ll need a USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter if you want to use your existing 3.5mm headphone jack.
This isn’t a surprise as Apple also ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack in the latest iPhone 7. Additionally, the report continues to mention that the removal of the headphone jack will reduce the form factor of the device, and will allow the device to pack a bigger battery inside.
Previous rumors suggest the alleged device will come in two screen sizes: 5.7-inches and 6.2-inches. There’s no word about the resolution of the detailed specifications of the handset, but judging by the frequency of reports popping up, it won’t be long when the rumor mill will share details about the handset’s internals. As for the launch, the handset is expected to make an appearance at the Mobile World Congress 2017 next year in February.
We’ll update you as soon as we get to hear anything more about the upcoming Galaxy S8.
