Foldable bikes have been around for quite some time, but one company has now introduced a new concept into the world of folding bikes by creating a folding wheel. The Revolve folding wheel has been designed to both provide a universal wheel that can be used on both bicycles and wheelchairs, as well as providing a space-saving solution for the once awkward to carry wheel.
Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the unique folding mechanics of the wheel that allow it to quickly collapse when required into a rugby ball shape and small form factor making it easy to carry and transport. Created by Andrea Mocellin, the folding wheel has been designed to provide users with the first truly modular wheel, as the Revolve is compatible with most bicycles and wheelchairs and as you can see from the image above and video below offers a genuinely unique folding mechanism.
Its unique design allows it to occupy 60 percent less space when folded, compared to a traditional wheel. Constructed using an aluminium frame and airless tire, not only is the Revolve wheel uniquely collapsible it also offers longevity and can even be used as a wheel when folded. Unfortunately, no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by Revolve, but as soon as news comes to light, we will keep you updated as always.
