Yesterday we heard that music streaming service Spotify were removing the time restrictions on music on its desktop and web versions of its service, and now Rdio has announced that its music service will be free on the web.
Rdio has been expanding its music service to new territories over the last few months, and now the web based version of Rdio will be free in the US.
If you love something, set it free. Well, we couldn’t agree more. So starting today Rdio is free in the U.S. on the web. That means you can listen to 20 million songs plus all the albums, playlists, and stations you love anywhere there’s a computer. Absolutely free.
Our ad-free option, Rdio Unlimited, will still be available for $9.99 a month for mobile and web access. If you’re already an Rdio Unlimited subscriber, your listening experience will stay exactly the same.
The new free web version of Rdio is supported by adverts, the company has said that the adverts will be ‘short and sweet’ and listeners will hear feature announcements and messages from the companies ‘partner brands’.
You can find out more information about the new free web version of Rdio over at their blog at the link below, it is only available in the US at the moment, but could be expanded to other countries in the future.
