A new smartphone powered 3D scanner has been unveiled by UK-based start-up 3D Smart Company called PIXELIO. That transforms your smart phone into a way of capturing 3D imaging that can then be transferred to your 3D printer.
The PIXELIO 3D scanner will soon be launching via the Kickstarter crowdfunding website to raise the required funds to take the new hardware into production.
The 3D scanner is equipped with a universal smart phone holder that allows the system to support almost any modern smartphone. PIXELIO has also been equipped with a wealth of other features designed to enhance the scanning capabilities of the device, as well as offering a wireless phone charging function.
All you need is your smartphone connected to Pixelio! Pixelio is the only device in the world that allows you to take highly precise scans through free applications installed on your smartphone. For scanning, Pixelio uses Autodesk 123D Catch –a free app that lets create 3D scans of virtually any object.
To create amazing 360-degree photos and product pictures we recommend Arqspin. Just install an application and Pixelio will connect to it and trigger a snapshot on your phone. This can be done automatically thanks to the patented Smart 3D’s Virtual Finger technology. With Pixelio you can scan any object simply by touching the ‘Scan’ button. To make it possible 3D Smart has created imitation of a human finger using a unique material with 0.3% of graphene.
