Ouya console developers have today announced that the Kickstarter funded Ouya open source Android gaming console, will start shipping to Kickstarter backers on March 28th.
After raising more than $8.5 million dollars during its successful Kickstarter campaign, the Ouya console is looking to change the face of open source gaming with its Android powered console.
Ouya explained in today’s press release that they will be gradually ramping up Ouya console production to make sure all the components of the Android open source Ouya console work perfectly.
The Ouya console will also continue to be enhanced and refined over the coming weeks and months with new features being added by the development team, explains Ouya, together with plenty more games, which will all be free to try.
“We’ve packed this little box full of power. Developers will have access to OUYA’s open design so they can produce their games for the living room, taking advantage of everything the TV has to offer.
Best of all, OUYA’s world-class controller, console, and interface come in one beautiful, inexpensive package. All the games on it will be free, at least to try.”
