Microsoft has introduced a couple of new photo-related features for OneDrive, which will make their way to Xbox One, Windows Phone 8.1 and the website in the coming weeks. The new update will come with three important features, which will improve how we handle photos.
With the new OneDrive for Xbox One, you can view your photos in a better way. When you will say Xbox, Go to OneDrive”, it will launch the OneDrive app on Xbox One, and show you the most recent photos from your OneDrive account. You can also view the “All photos” tab just as the web version sorted by date and time by heading over to the “more” option. It will show you the timeline of your photos.
“OneDrive aspires to be the one place where you store everything in your life, including all of your photos, and we’ve been working hard to make that experience even better. Today we have three updates to that will make it easier for you to enjoy your photos on Xbox One, on Windows Phone, and at OneDrive.com,” says OneDrive’s Douglas Pearce.
Microsoft also announced that users don’t need Xbox Live Gold subscription to use the OneDrive app on their Xbox One. The new features are not yet available, but they will make their way to the console in the June update.
Windows Phone 8.1 brought several enhancements new features to the operating system. Currently, there are only two devices available in the market which are running the latest OS, but it will make its way to existing devices in the coming months. With the new Windows Phone 8.1 update, users will be able to update high-resolution photos to OneDrive. Previously, this feature was disabled, and it was revealed earlier as well by those who are running the developer preview.
Lastly, US customers can now print their photos on OneDrive.com directly to their local Walgreens. The process is simple: simply select the photos you want to print, go to Manage and select Order Prints. It will ask you to specify the quantity and size, and it will be ready for pickup at your local Walgreen outlet in an hour. As a promotion, Walgreen is also offering 25 percent discount to all orders from OneDrive, all you have to do is enter “ONEDRIVE” as the coupon code during checkout.
