As well as the new Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia also revealed another new Android smartphone at MWC 2018, the Nokia 8 Sirocco.
The Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with a 5.5 inch pOLED display which comes with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. This high-resolution display ensures that users get a crisp and vibrant viewing experience, making it ideal for watching videos, browsing the web, and playing games. The pOLED technology also offers better color accuracy and deeper blacks compared to traditional LCD screens.
The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile processor and it comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of included storage. The Snapdragon 835 is a high-performance chipset that was one of the top processors available at the time of the phone’s release. It ensures smooth multitasking and efficient performance, whether you’re running multiple apps or playing graphics-intensive games. The 6GB of RAM further enhances the device’s ability to handle demanding tasks without lag.
Battery and Charging
The Nokia 8 Sirocco features a 3260 mAh battery, which is designed to provide a full day of usage on a single charge. This is complemented by wireless charging capabilities, allowing for convenient and cable-free charging. The inclusion of wireless charging is a significant advantage, as it adds to the overall user convenience and helps keep the device powered up without the hassle of plugging in cables.
Connectivity and Camera Features
In terms of connectivity, the Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with USB Type-C, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 4G LTE. The USB Type-C port is reversible, making it easier to plug in, and it supports fast data transfer speeds. WiFi and Bluetooth ensure seamless connectivity with other devices, while 4G LTE provides fast internet access on the go.
The handset also boasts high-end cameras on both the front and back. On the front, there is a single 5-megapixel camera designed for video calls and selfies. While 5 megapixels might seem modest by today’s standards, it is sufficient for clear and detailed video calls and self-portraits.
On the back of the handset, there are two cameras: one with a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and the other with a 13-megapixel telephoto lens. The dual-camera setup allows for versatile photography options. The wide-angle lens is perfect for capturing landscapes and group photos, while the telephoto lens is ideal for zooming in on distant subjects without losing image quality. This combination ensures that users can take high-quality photos in various scenarios.
HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia brand, is launching the new Nokia 8 Sirocco in April. The handset will retail for €749, positioning it as a premium device in the market. The price reflects the high-end features and build quality of the phone, making it a competitive option for those looking for a flagship Android smartphone.
